{Introductory letter from Mayor McGinn}
The focus of the Road Safety Action Plan was two-fold: to create a culture of empathy among everyone traveling Seattle's roads, and to lay out a data-driven approach to addressing the most common causes of collisions: speeding, impairment, distraction, and lack of knowledge of the rules of the road. Roadway design was also addressed.
The overarching goal: zero traffic fatalities and serious injuries on Seattle roadways.
